CrewChief
CrewChief provides track landmark data that enriches your analysis with actual corner names, sector boundaries, and reference points.
What is CrewChief
CrewChief is a popular racing spotter and engineer application used by sim racers. It maintains detailed track data including:
- Turn names and positions
- Sector boundaries
- Braking reference points
- Track landmarks
B4Racing uses this community-sourced track data to make your analysis more meaningful.
Why This Matters
Without CrewChief data, B4Racing would show generic labels:
"Turn 1 min speed: 62 km/h" "Turn 2 min speed: 178 km/h"
With CrewChief data, you see actual corner names:
"La Source min speed: 62 km/h" "Eau Rouge min speed: 178 km/h"
This makes conversations much more natural:
You: "Why am I slow through Eau Rouge?"
B4Racing: "Looking at your telemetry through Eau Rouge, I notice..."
What CrewChief Provides
| Data Type | Description | Used For |
|---|---|---|
| Turn names | Official corner names | Corner-by-corner analysis |
| Turn positions | GPS coordinates | Landmark positioning |
| Sectors | Sector boundaries | Sector time analysis |
| Landmarks | Braking markers, etc. | Reference points |
No Action Required
B4Racing handles CrewChief data integration automatically. You don't need to install CrewChief or configure anything—we maintain track landmark data on our end.
How It Works
- CrewChief community contributes detailed track data
- B4Racing imports this data into our metadata database
- Analyzers use landmarks to label corners and sectors
- You see actual corner names in your analysis
Track Coverage
CrewChief data covers most popular racing circuits:
- All major iRacing tracks
- Most ACC circuits
- Many community-contributed tracks
Some newer or less common tracks may have incomplete landmark data. In these cases, B4Racing falls back to generic turn numbers.
Combining All Data Sources
For the best experience, B4Racing combines data from all three sources:
| Source | Provides |
|---|---|
| Garage61 | Your telemetry and lap times |
| iRacing | Car and track names |
| CrewChief | Detailed corner names |
This gives you rich, contextual analysis with proper names for everything.
